Monument, Under Construction, 2022
The work was exhibited at UNPRUM Klazura Exhibition, Prague, the Czech Republic.
This installation recreates an event that took place in Prague, while the tourist quarter was restoration in the 1980s. Many cobblestones made from Jewish tombstones were discovered, the exposed cobblestones had Hebrew letters, family names, birth and death dates. These were cut, polished, and divided into perfect cubes to resemble regular pavement stones pointing downwards.
The monument was created by scanning pavement stones found throughout Prague, carving Hebrew letters into them using computer software, and finally 3D printing them. Stones from the street were added in the installation.
Found cobblestones, 3D-printed cobblestones imprinted with Hebrew letters, construction sand.
