Installation view, 16Min. 3D animation video on 100' monitor, a bench and two pedestals from recycled wood that used to be a shelf unit designed by my grandfather Reuven.
The work was exhibited at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design as part of the graduate exhibition, curated by Ilanit Konopny, Jerusalem, Israel.
At 3 Reuven Street in the Baka neighborhood of Jerusalem, dozens of sculptures rest on shelves, silently standing in place. A camera roams and observes the space, capturing every detail. Among the stillness, a large fish aquarium remains the sole source of movement, its air bubbles communicating with an oxygen machine that sustains a trapped soul within.
This work began as an archival preservation project, focused on sculptures my grandfather created during his studies at Bezalel Academy in the 1950s. These sculptures have been digitally integrated into a digital 3D recreation of his home, a virtual space that now endures while the physical one fades away.
The sculptures and furnitures from the house were digitized using photogrammetry technology, ensuring their preservation in meticulous detail. In order bring new life to a home that stands still and slowly empties, the camera movements were carefully recorded using augmented reality technology, weaving motion and memory into the static space.
