Second Serve, 2024

Installation view, two automatic tennis ball launchers for dogs, two feedback nets for tennis training, tenis balls for dogs, and a wall painted green with a white stripe.

In recent months, tennis, often referred to as the "white sport," has become an integral part of our daily lives, inspiring us to adopt an intensive training routine. In the installation, two tennis ball launchers serve as our mechanical avatars—flawless, enhanced versions of ourselves, capable of engaging in perpetual athletic virtuosity. They play endlessly against one another, or at least until one of them ceases to function. The two exchange volleys with one another, within and against each other, in a steady rhythm, sketching an infinite loop in the traces of their motion. The cycle is broken when one falters, misses, or tires. With the arrival of a new ball, another round begins, continuing until the next inevitable end.

The work was exhibited at the Mamuta Art & Media Center as part of the exhibition "Sportivo Utopia", curated by Sala Manca Group, Jerusalem, israel. Created in collaboration with Yahav Gal.
